SELA GOES TO COLLEGE

Our mission is to strengthen the SELA communities,

build collective power, and encourage innovation to

drive regional systemic change.

WELCOME SELA COMMUNITY!

SELA Goes to College is a community-driven initiative to empower Southeast Los Angeles (SELA) students and parents to create a stronger higher education pipeline for the SELA community. SELA Goes to College aims to bridge the gap between underserved communities and higher education by providing comprehensive resources, mentorship, and support. Through collaborative efforts with local organizations and educational institutions, SELA Goes to College strives to create postsecondary opportunities and pathways to success for students in the SELA region.

This initiative was launched to further advance the goals outlined in the College Access & Success in the Southeast Policy Framework developed by the Alliance for a Better Community in consultation with SELA parents, students, faculty and community leaders.

WE HAVE WORK TO DO IN SELA

Only about 6.5% of people 25 years and older have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher level of education in SELA cities.
