Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Foundation

Deadline: June 6

Award: $1,000-$5,000


  • Must be entering a post-secondary institution in the United States. High school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students are welcome to apply
  • Application is open to students who attend community college, university, and trade/vocational school 
  • Applicants should have a strong history of activism within the API and/or LGBTQ communities; however, do not need to identify as either to apply
  • Open to students who attend/enrolled in a US accredited school (no need to be a US citizen)


Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award

Deadline: May 20


  • Applicants must be planning to pursue a career in journalism, be able to demonstrate their passion and commitment to the profession
  • Applicants also must demonstrate an awareness of the issues facing the LGBTQ community and the importance of fair and accurate news coverage
  • Applicants must be NLGJA: The association of LGBTQ journalists members in good standing 
  • Current and incoming undergraduate and graduate students can apply. Proof of acceptance or current enrollment required 


Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship

  • Award: one-year scholarships of $1,500 or $3,000 to those graduating high school or already enrolled in college in any year of study, including graduate school 
  • Deadline: June 11, 2021
  • Info/requirements:
    • Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient’s school and are applied toward tuition
    • Academic achievement
    • Outstanding community service and leadership
    • Commitment to impacting LGBTQ issues


The Community College Scholarship Program

  • Award: $2,000-$4,800 in tuition scholarship each year and other counseling and coaching benefits from the program
  • Deadline: May 3rd
  • Requirements:
    • Must be enrolled or intending to enroll at an accredited CC based in the US in the fall of 2021
    • Must have 1-2 years of CC left AND (1) intending to transfer to a bachelor’s program at a four-year college for Fall 2022 or Fall 2023 OR (2) graduate with an associates degree in Fall 2023
    • Must be “out” as a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community
